This course will cover all aspects of the School Financial Value Standard. Details of each section which will be discussed highlighting the areas to enhance Financial Management.
The schools financial value standard (SFVS) is a mandatory requirement for local authority (LA) maintained schools and is currently optional for Academies.
The SFVS has been designed with schools to help them in managing their finances and to give assurance that they have secure financial management in place.
Governing bodies of maintained schools or management committees of pupil referral units (PRUs) have formal responsibility for the financial management of their schools, and so the standard is primarily aimed at governors or management committees. Other schools are welcome to use any of the material associated with the standard, if they would find it useful.
The DfE have recently published the ‘new’ standard that also includes a dashboard to show how the school’s data compares to thresholds on a range of statistics. The question template (checklist), has been updated and has 10 ‘new’ questions added and some removed.
For Governors to have a clear understanding of the SFVS and how it should be completed.
- PLEASE NOTE: Subscribing schools to Southend Governance can attend the course for free, however, for any non-subscribing schools you will be charged £50 per governor
