With face coverings becoming compulsory on public transport, we have launched this competition to spark a conversation about face coverings and how young people feel about the reality of having to wear one. We want to raise awareness of how young people can stay safe as lockdown eases and to inspire them to take a real interest by having the opportunity to design their own.
We want this competition to reach as many young people as possible and we hope that you can help us spread the word. Face It is part of a wider initiative by Southend YMCA called FYV 'Find Your Voice' which aims to provide young people with the platform they need to take a hands-on role in community issues affecting them.
The competition is judged by Amber Butchart fashion historian and TV presenter and Lydia Kovacs fashion stylist so may be of interest to teachers delivering arts and media curriculum and a nice CV building opportunity.
Southend YMCA will also be holding an online exhibition so schools can have their own online gallery featuring their pupils designs
Deadline: The judging panel is being led by guest star judge Amber Butchart, Fashion Historian and Broadcaster. The competition closes on 28th June.
